Yabancı Dil Olarak Türkçe Öğretiminde Dil Öğrenme Profillerinin Değerlendirilmesi

Abstract

This study aims to examine the language learning profiles of those who learn Turkish as a foreign language in detail. Therefore, the study discusses the relationships between students' demographic characteristics and language learning profiles within students' feedback and instructors' views. The study uses a demographic information form, Foreign Language Learning Scale, and a semi-structured interview form to collect data, and discusses the findings after the analysis of the data. A total of 354 students and 27 instructors participate in the study. The number of female students is 196 and the number of male students is 158. The Turkish language levels of the students in the study are mostly at the C1 level while a small number of students are at A1, A2, B1, and B2 levels. Learning methods are preferred by an equal number of students both inside and outside the classroom. The results show that students are open to responsibility, emotional stability, and experience, and they have the characteristics of hardworking, task-conscious, and adaptable learners. They also purposefully focus in the classroom and are often extroverted, adaptable, and emotionally stable. The results also indicate that there is a strong relationship between the gender of the students and their language profiles.
