Yabancı Dil Olarak Türkçe Öğretiminde Karşılaşılan Sorunlar: Arnavutluk Örneği

Abstract

Today, countries that strive for self-development in every field, by taking other developed countries as an example, offer innovations to their own society and aim to establish healthy relations with these countries. Due to the developments, every society needs to be in contact with the people of other countries, and this makes foreign language learning inevitable. There are also some problems that learners encounter while learning a foreign language. These problems may arise from the learners and the language teachers, as well as from the differences in language structures. Since Albanian and Turkish are members of different language families, their language structures are different. This difference brings along many problems in teaching Turkish in Albania. This study aims to determine the problems encountered by students learning Turkish in Albania during the learning process. The study is descriptive survey research. 49 students studying at the Department of Turkish Language and Literature at the University of Tirana participate in the survey prepared by the researcher. The statements in the survey are grouped and the results are discussed in relation to each other according to these groupings. The results of the study show that students hesitate to participate in speaking activities in speaking lessons or that speaking activities are not practiced in classes, reading skills are mostly used in Turkish lessons, and they experience more problems in listening skills than in other skills. This is due to the inadequacy of listening activities. The results of the study revealed that the grammar concepts are not understood since Turkish and Albanian are different languages, and therefore the students have difficulty in forming sentences.
