Ukraynalıların Türkçe Öğrenme Sürecinde Ukraynaca-Türkçe Dil Farklılıklarından Kaynaklanan Sorunları

Abstract

The rapidly developing age we live in demands certain qualifications from people. One of these is mastery of a foreign language, which has become almost obligatory in today’s world. Turkish has become one of the most preferred languages around the world, especially over the last decades. Ukraine is one of the countries where Turkish is very popular, especially because of the increasingly strong cooperation in the trade and tourism sectors. For this reason, Turkology departments, Turkish language and culture centers, and Turkish language courses have been established in various universities in Ukraine. To meet the demands of Ukrainians to learn Turkish, Yunus Emre Institute, which provides services in 54 countries throughout the world, provides services in Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, too. According to the classifications of languages in terms of their genetics and morphologies, Turkish and Ukrainian languages belong to different language families. The fact that their origins and structures are different is the reason that there are so numerous differences between them at various levels. The presence of so many differences between the two languages, of course, leads to many problems, difficulties, and mistakes in the language-learning process. Being aware of the levels, issues, and causes of these problems and difficulties is of great importance to make the language learning process easier and more effective. We believe the data collected in this study via interviews with Turkish teachers working at well-known universities in Ukraine and analyzed with the content analysis method will be useful for Ukrainian students who are about to start or continue learning Turkish.
