Gülten Dayıoğlu’nun “Yurdumu Özledim” Adlı Eserinden Hareketle Avrupalı Türklerin Eğitim, Dil ve Kültür Alanında Karşılaştığı Sorunlar

Abstract

In Germany, which is trying to heal its wounds after the Second World War, a labor shortage has emerged as the industry has also begun to develop. Germany started to recruit workers from Turkey by signing a Labor Recruitment Agreement with Turkey in 1961. Turks who immigrated to Germany from Turkey to find a job have encountered various difficulties there. Among the problems they faced were problems such as education, language, and culture. These problems have been the subject of various television broadcasts and various articles. Our writers, who are part of society, have not remained indifferent to this problem and have started to include this problem in their works. Gülten Dayıoğlu, one of the most important writers of today’s Turkish literature, did not remain indifferent to this distress and included them in her works titled “Geriye Dönenler”, “Geride Kalanlar”, “Yurdumu Özledim” and “Ben Büyüyünce”. Dayıoğlu, in his work Yurdumu Özledim; revealed the lives of children experiencing cultural confusion within the fact of the character of Atıl, who went to Germany with his family and had difficulties in adapting to school, and within the fact that Turkish children, in general, who had difficulties in adapting to school, that they were educated in a language they did not know, that they were ostracized by German teachers and students. To determine the problems experienced by the European Turks, Gülten Dayıoğlu’s work named Yurdumu Özledim was analyzed using the document analysis method. As a result of the examination, it was found that Turks living in Germany have problems in language, culture, and education.
